St. Saviour's Anglican Church

     

Karen and Frank Ludditt  &  Betty and I played in the Church

as children in 1962

(of course we were very respectful and reverent in our antics)

I  was  born  in  Wells  in  1950

but  the  family  lived  &  worked  in  Barkerville  &  area  with  the  Ludditt's

Mom  Dad  Fred  Esther  Betty  Me

Dad  worked  with  Fred  on  gold  claims  on  Grouse  Creek

Sourdough  Bakery

if  my  memory  serves  me  well, the  Ludditt's  lived  here  in  the  1960's

downstairs  was  Fred Luddit's  office  when  he  was  Gold  Commissioner

the  residence  was  upstairs  &  in 1962  we  lived  with  them  here

Fred  Esther  Karen  Franklin  Betty  David  Anthea  Ingrid  Janet  &  Ted

my  father  was  away  working  somewhere

     

as  children  we  roamed  and  played  in  the  streets  of  Barkerville

almost  no  one  lived  there  but  us  &  Barkerville  was  totally  undeveloped  at  that  time

almost  empty  of  people  &  a real  ghost  town
